The Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Gujarat Lions with 8 wickets and 11 balls to spare.

It wasn’t a great decision for SRH to win the toss and they choose to bowl first when GL openers Ishan Kishan and Dwayne Smith got their team to a flying start. the openers put on 111 run partnership in just 11 overs.

But the bowlers like Rashid Khan and Mohd Siraj made the decision to go in their way. Rashid Khan was the one to break the 111 run partnership when he picked up Dwayne Smith for 54 runs and then on it was a huge collapse for the Gujarat Lions.

Mohd Siraj joins Rashid Khan in the party. Ishan Kishan edges a ball and Naman Ohja takes a simple catch and then skipper Suresh Raina tries his pick up shot, unfortunately, he doesn’t get the distance and lifts it straight to Dhawan completes an easy catch at the boundary. That ends the skipper’s innings for just 2 of 5 balls.

In the very next over the spinner get the man in form Dinesh Karthik for 0. Karthik was caught by Deepak Hooda when he tried to pull to a full toss.

Aussie opener Aron Finch to couldn’t last long. Rashid Khan takes better of him. Rashid Khan bolds Finch for just 2.

Another Aussie all-rounder also to deliver when the team required him the most, James Faulkner was clean bold by young pacer for just 8. In the very next ball, Pradeep Sangwan too was bold by Mohd Siraj for zero.

It was Ravindra Jadeja’s 20 not out that brought Gujarat Lions to 154. Other tail-enders like Ankit Soni, Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel didn’t last long either. In all also except for openers and little contribution from all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja none of the batsmen contributed in the score of 154, that Gujarat Lions managed in their 20 overs.

In chase of 155, the Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t start well.  Skipper David Warner’s opening partner Sikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques didn’t support their captain as would have liked to. Dhawan fell for 18 and Henriques scored only 4 runs. Both the batsmen fell to Praveen Kumar.

After their wicket, it was the combination of experience and youth that did the job for Sunrisers Hyderabad team.

The unbreakable partnership of 133 runs between Captain David Warner and Vijay Shankar sealed the victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad team.

Warner’s classy 69 not out and Vijay Shankar’s matured knock of 63 not out allowed the Sunrisers Hyderabad team to chase this modest total down easily.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad team won the match by 8 wickets and 11 balls to spare by doing so they also qualify for the playoff berth and became the 2nd team behind the Mumbai Indians.

The man of the match was awarded to Mohd Siraj for his excellent bowling performance. The youngster picked 4 wickets for just 32 runs in his 4 overs spell.
