2nd One Day International of India Tour of West Indies – Preview

The Review of 1st ODI played at Port of Spain –

The 1st One Day International between India and West Indies was washed out due to rain. In that ODI match West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. India made some changes in that ODI including Ajinkya Rahane who replaced Rohit Sharma as an opener and Kuldeep Yadav who made his ODI debut yesterday. Kuldeep Yadav came in the place of Ravindra Jadeja.

The Indian openers started off with a bang, Shikhar Dhawan continued his good form in this 1st ODI too. Dhawan was equally well supported by Ajinkya Rahane. The opening duo of India smashed the weak and in experienced Windies all over the park. Dhawan and Rahane scored their 1st fifty in West Indies. These two added 132 for the first wicket.

Ajinkya Rahane was the first one to go for 62. Dhawan was looking good to score a hundred but Devendra Bishoo dismissed him for 87 runs.

Yuvraj Singh too couldn’t stay for long with skipper Kohli who was batting at the other end. Yuvi scored only 4 from 10 balls.

All wanted to see Kohli and MS Dhoni bat together, Kohli was going on well and so as Dhoni but rain interrupted the game and the game was called off in the end.

India scored 199 for the loss of 3 wickets in 39.2 overs with Kohli not out on 32 and Dhoni was still there on 9 not out.

For the hosts Devendra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph and skipper Jason Holder picked up 1 wicket each.

2nd ODI Preview –

The 2nd ODI of the 5 match series is to be played tomorrow at Port of Spain, the same place where the 1st ODI was played on Friday.

India did get most of the 1st ODI, Indian openers Dhawan and Rahane played a good innings and it was a great start provided by these two talented openers.

Kohli also looked good while he was batting. He would have scored more but the rain gods didn’t allow him to do so. Dhoni just batted for 9 deliveries in that match. He was not out on 9 from 9 balls.

Only concern for India was the batting of Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi managed only 4 runs from 10 balls.

Indian bowlers didn’t get a chance to bowl because of the rain. But West Indies bowlers struggled in that ODI.

All the bowlers of West Indies went for runs against the powerful batting line up of India.

Skipper Jason Holder has a lot to think before the 2nd ODI starts on Sunday.

For Kohli it will be a tough call to play Shami or Umesh Yadav and he should also take a call on Rishab Pant. Pant should make in his way in the playing XI for the 2nd One Day International.

Pant can replace struggling Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi hasn’t been playing well after the  first game against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy.

For the Windies it is tough to bowl against a top ranked team. West Indies haven’t done well against good side like Pakistan and England. They beat Afghanistan in a T20 series but lost the 2nd ODI that’s why the series had to be shared 1 all.

The hosts needs to step up their game in the ODI series otherwise India may hand them a whitewash.

Will it rain again at Port of Spain tomorrow?

According to the BBC weather report variably cloudy with a few showers that may spoil the party of the Indian team.
