After losing the series at Indore, The Kangaroos will aim to salvage some pride by winning the last two One Day International matches.
The 4th One Day International Match between India and Australia will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday 28th September 2017.
Steve Smith and his men will look to draw some confidence from the last match and Kohli will look for another clean sweep. If India wins the series 5-0 under Virat Kohli, then Kohli will become the first Indian captain to win an ODI series by whitewashing the Australians.
The Aussies had no clue about India’s dominance, the number 1 ODI team has dominated the series from the word go.
Australia batted well in the Indore ODI, David Warner, Skipper Steve Smith and Aaron Finch are in good aggressive form. But the problem is lack of runs by ‘The Big Man’ Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, and Matthew Wade. Due to these 3, Australia couldn’t post a challenging total on the broad.
Peter Handscomb was in for Matthew Wade but Peter failed to make an impression. These 4 have to fire for Australia to gain some pride after losing the series.
On the other hand, India will continue to what they do the best. Rohit Sharma has gained some form in the last match, he would be hoping to continue to hit sixes with ease as he did in Indore. This is the same ground where ‘The Hit Man’ scored his maiden double century in ODIs. He scored that mammoth 209 against the same opposition.
Rohit should take this as an inspiration and score another big one on Thursday.
Ajinkya Rahane too batted well in Kolkata and Indore. He will look to continue his prime form in last two matches.
Kohli’s experiment of promoting Hardik Pandya worked. Pandya again was the man to see India through. Kohli will want Hardik to perform as an all-rounder, India has been searching a seaming all-rounder since the retirement of legendary Kapil Dev.
Skipper Kohli, who managed only 28 at Indore, will want to score big at M. Chinnaswamy. This ground is also a home ground for Kohli due to IPL. Chinnaswamy Stadium is the home ground for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kohli is the captain of this team. So he will want to provide some entertainment to his fans. RCB has disappointed their fans this season of the Indian Premier League, by winning this match Kohli will cheer many of his fans who are present there and watching this game.
Manish Pandey batted well at Indore along with Pandya and MS Dhoni. His unbeaten 36 runs saw India through after an early departure of Virat Kohli. Pandey also played for the RCB team in the season of 2009 and 2010 so he knows this ground well as Virat Kohli. After his innings at Indore, Manish will be expected to play such knocks and help the team to go over the line.
Another man who knows this ground more like Kohli and Manish Pandey is Yuzvendra Chahal. He also plays for the RCB in the Indian Premier League. He has been the trump card for India in this series. The last time when Yuzvendra Chahal played an international match at this venue, He picked the best figures for India in T20s. He became the first Indian to pick 5 wickets in a T20 match. He achieved this amazing feat against England on February 1st, 2017. Yuzvendra will want to repeat this magic but this time in the 50 overs format.
The Puneri Hero has been disappointing with his low scores, Kedar Jhadav hasn’t been up to the mark since his wonderful century at his home ground in Pune. He got to decent starts in Chennai and Kolkata but he failed to play a mature innings. In Indore Kedar just scored 2 and now his place is in danger. KL Rahul is ready to replace Kedar Jhadav.
KL Rahul has spent his heydays at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He also plays for the RCB in the IPL. If he gets a chance to play in front of his home ground, then this Karnataka batsman won’t disappoint. He may be in for Kedar Jhadav.
The bowling attack of India has also been brilliant, even though Indian pacers went for runs in the 3rd ODI the spinners brought India back into the game. Kuldeep Yadav has been another trump card for the hosts like Chahal. It was a mind bowling spell by Kuldeep, he brought India back into the contest. He picked up the centurion Aaron Finch and then his second victim was skipper Steve Smith. Due to these double strike, Australia were pegged back.
The middle and the lower order of Australia has been weak, they miss the all-around services of James Faulkner. Faulkner can add some runs lower down the order with Marcus Stoinis. Stoinis has been good for Australia in the last two matches. Stoinis and Faulkner can end the batting woes which is causing them the trouble.
The bowling attack of the Aussies hasn’t fired either, a lot was expected from Pat Cumins but he has failed to deliver for his team. The same thing goes with Kane Richarson, Adam Zampa, and Ashton Agar. They haven’t produced any wickets like the Indian bowlers. Only Nathan Coulter Nile has looked threatening, he has been the pick of the bowlers for Australia.
India has an upper hand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, both the teams have played 6 matches and India has won 4 of them. Australia should do something otherwise whitewash is on cards for the misery visitors.
Playing XI for India –
India might experiment with their squad. They might rest Bhuvneshwar Kumar and test Mohd Shami for the remaining two ODI matches. Kedar Jhadav also will be axed from the squad after his poor performance in the series so far. KL Rahul should take his place at his home ground and against his favorite opponent.
Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Mohd Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.
Playing XI for Australia-
The Aussies have to think a lot about the right combination to win this match. They should include James Faulkner instead of Ashton Agar, Agar will return home due to his finger injury and Glenn Maxwell should also be axed. Matthew Wade can replace him.
Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steve Smith, Peter Handscomb, Matthew Wade, James Faulkner, Marcus Stoinis, Kane Richarson, Pat Cumins, Nathan Coulter Nile and Adam Zampa.
