After the Congress, now the Leftist have chalked out plan of a week-long protest against the Modi government over the Rafale deal, which will reportedly begin with a ‘Jan Adalat’ in Delhi on October 13.
More than hundred organizations affiliated to various left parties will jointly take part on this nationwide protest to expose the alleged scams in the purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France.
These parties are demanding the registration of Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and a joint parliamentary committee to inspect the deal.
According to reports, for now the Left parties have decided not to invite other opposition parties for the Jan Adalat and it will be followed by a nationwide campaign by Jan Ekta Jan Adhikar Andolan (JEJAA), the grouping of organizations affiliated to the Left Parties, from October 22 to 28.
These organizations will hold public meeting and seminars over a stage demonstration in districts on October 28. The Jan Ekta Jan Adhikar Andolan comprises traders, farmers, students, teachers, labors and social unions, claims to have 20 crore members.
The JEJAA convener Hannan Mollah said, “The Rafale deal is a major corruption that needs thorough investigations by a joint parliamentary committee. Only a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe can bring all the shaddy details behind the deal before public”.
Furthermore, he claimed, “The Bofors scam was just worth Rs 64 Crore, the Rafale deal we have heard may go up to 41,000 crore. In the Bofors case there was middleman, Ottavio Quattrocchi, but in the Rafale deal the Prime Minister is directly involved”, he added.
Questioning the government’s nationalism, Mollah claimed, Modi is misusing nationalism to cover the loot of public money and Modi-led government is engrossed in pleasing crony capitalists by showing them ways to maximize their profit margins at the cost of public exchequer.
Another CPI(ML) polit bureau member Kavita Krishnan stated, “They want to shut us up by calling us Urban naxals. It is a diversionary tactics to close down questions and raised down our voice”.
