Since 1996 and over six installments of Mission: Impossible franchise, one consistent complaint has been allegedly confused characterization of IMF’s special agent Ethan Haunt (Tom Cruise). Ethan’s personality changes as much as the tone or style brought by each new director. In ‘Fallout’ Haunt is older but still saving the world without breaking sweat. He is the ultimate one!
Well we can now say, old Ethan in a new bottle!
There is a larger than life plot where the entire world is at stake yet again, only one man the Impossible Mission Force’s agent Haunt can save the day. While Ethan Haunt and the IMF joined forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions, arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as ‘The Apostles’ planning to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Basically, there are three spheres of plutonium, which fall into the wrong hands because Haunt chooses to save friend Luthar over the radioactive element. A lot of grief Hunt gets for it too, because those plutonium spheres are quickly on their way to Lark, who is making nuclear bombs out of that radioactive element. Now the only way to stop Lark is to intercept him while he meets an arm’s agent called ‘The White Widow’ the character which is played by Kirbi, in Paris.
Since the CIA doesn’t trust IMF enough, CIA ensures that its own agent, Walker, is with IMF agent Haunt at all times through this mission. Soon, Ilsa (Ferguson), an agent who is not in good terms with her own government, joins them. Fallout has two villains working towards the same goal to cleanse the world by putting it through hell, yet with opposite motivations! John Lark and the other one is Solomon Lane.
Julia Meade, who was introduced in earlier series in Mission Impossible 3 as Ethan’s fiancé, came up with a new twist in this season.
Director McQuarrie in his second series of Mission: Impossible, is just not interested in showing that Ethan can do anything for his team, but highlighted the power of the group as well. Moreover, Tom Cruise’s death-defying stunts is a must watch. According to many of the film critics, Tom Cruise’s highest grossing franchise’s latest could possibly be one of the best action movies in recent times.
