Apart from Nick-Priyanka’s love story, there is one more reason why the Quantico star is hitting the headlines now.
Actor Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Pahuna—The Little Visitors’ was recent honored internationally. Pahuna produced by Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures, has made India proud internationally. The Sikkimies film bagged two awards—Best Film in Jury choice and a Special Mention by Professional Jury in the International Feature Film category at the ongoing SCHLINGEL International Children’s Film Festival in Germany.
Pahuna received an overwhelming response at the European premier of the film at the film festival held on October 2 and October 5 and it won the awards on October 6.
Pahuna, directed by Pakhi A Tyrewala, was screen at the festival on October 5. The small budget film revolves around the three children who formed a bond with each other after they are separated from their parents while fleeing to Nepal. Chopra’s project had its world premier at the Toronto Film Festival last year.
Tyrewala’s Sikkimese film is backed by Priyanka’s mom Priyanka and Madhu Chopra’s banner Purple Pebble Pictures (PPP) and this is for the first time, a film produced by Priyanka got international acclamation.
Elated at the win, Madhu Chopra asserts the underlying theme of the film cuts across language barrier.
She said, “Pahuna is relevant anywhere in the world where there is conflict, dislocation and pain. Priyanka set up the production house with the idea of giving regional stories, artistes and crew, a pan India presence and if possible, international exposure. With this, we have achieved a global exposure” she said by adding that the film Pahuna will have its premier in India in December.
Furthermore, she said that Pahuna will always be a very special film for Priyanka and her and for the entire team member of Purple Pebble Pictures. When they started the journey of Pahuna, they didn’t anticipated that the film will go this far. But God has been kind and the film has resonated with audience not just in India but across the globe, she added in her statement.
