After Rajkumar Hirani’s Super-hit movie ‘Sanju’, another biopic on Sanjay Dutt will be floored very soon…
But the twist is –who is directing the film? We’ll tell you, the upcoming film will be directed by none other than ‘Satya’ famed Ram Gopal Varma.
Varma is planning another biopic on Sanjay Dutt, whom he directed in two movies earlier and the tentative title is ‘Sanju: The Real Story’, reported sources.
As Hirani’s film has been scrutinized and called an effort to whitewash Dutt’s controversial image, the ‘Sarkar’ director will focus on the untold story of the actor’s life, which will be more realistic than Hirani’s take.
A source informed a News Daily, “Varma’s film will focus only on Dutt’s possession of the AK-56 rifle”. Varma confirmed the news, he said to a News agency, “Yes! I am making the film.” However, he refused to disclose further details about the film, including who is going to be cast as Sanjay Dutt, and when the film will start rolling!
According to sources, RGV’s decision comes after he watched Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt. Varma loved the movie, but was disappointed with the manner how it dealt with Dutt’s struggle with drugs and his brush with the law.
Furthermore, Dutt was doing drugs, was traumatized by his mother’s battle with cancer as she died just three days before the release of his first film Rocky, besides he had multiple flings, many of them one night stands, all were well documented. But people would love to know the background information of those controversies, which haunted Dutt for over two decades.
Varma’s ‘Sanju’ will reportedly focus on the actor’s several brushes with the law, most prominently the terrorism charges tagged against him in relation to the 93’s Mumbai blast, and will explore, who threatened his family, what spurred Dutt to acquire the rifle that got him into trouble, and how the firearms were delivered to him.
According to reports, after the 1993’s Mumbai blasts, Dutt accepted delivery of the rifle at his Bandra residence from underworld don Abu Salem and co-accoused Riyaz Siddique. The weapon was part of a large consignment of arms connected to the conspiracy to attack Mumbai.
Earlier, in his confession, Baba (Sanjay Dutt’s pet name) stated that he acquired the firearm after he got threat calls and as he was worried about the safety of his sisters Namrata and Priya.
Ram Gopal Varma has already started his research on the film, reported sources, and met Dutt’s associates and cops, who were involved in his arrest and investigation.
