So now, the makers of the film decided to release another video showing Varun Dhawan’s journey of becoming Sui Dhaga’s Mauji.
In the video, Dhawan is seen revealing, how he used to work over the sewing machine for hours to slip into a proper tailor’s shoe. He even cracked a joke on this practice by saying, one can go blind but the thread will never enter the needle! Furthermore he said that he knew he had to assimilation the art to convince viewers that he is a real ‘masterji’. But the experience of learning how to tailor was not so easy at all.
He also revealed the names, those who were behind transforming him into a tailor. The costume designer of ‘Sui Dhaaga’, Darshan and Noor Bhai, who is a real-life tailor and used to present at the set all time helped Varun to learn the skill and transform into Mauji perfectly.
The actor also disclosed that at first he made a blouse on his own, then a shirt and pant, then a pillow cover. In an interview with a leading daily he said, “As an actor, he likes to get challenged to become someone else on-screen”.
Furthermore, Varun added, “Initially, it was frustrating as I was not getting it right. Even, the needle pierced my fingers multiple times. But now ‘am happy that I went through the drill because I have picked up a new skill in the process.”
It took him the entire 3 months. Sometimes it took 2 hours and sometimes even 4 hours in each tailoring class to build up the confidence that he could pull this off in front of the camera. But finally now, he can claim that he is very good at this art work and now, very comfortable with sewing machine, reported sources.
