It’s raining biopics in bollywood this year. From warriors to politicians, sports stars to astronauts, bollywood is all set to roll out its biopics, one after the other and real movie buffs just can’t miss out on anyone.

The much awaited Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie will be depicting the life of Rani Padmini played by Deepika Padukone. Ranveer Singh will be seen as Allauddin Khilji. Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh and Aditi Rao Hydari will also play important roles in the biopic which is scheduled to be released on 17th November, 2017.
2. Haseena Parkar
Shraddha Kapoor is making the news with her impactful role in the movie Haseena Parkar. She will be playing the role of Haseena Parkar, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and will release on 18th August, 2017.
3. Untitled Sanjay Dutt Biopic
Leaked pictures of Ranbir Kapoor getting into the look and persona of Sanjay Dutt have already excited the audience for his role as Sanjay Dutt in latter’s biopic. Manisha Koirala will play the role of Nargis in the movie. The film will be releasing in March, 2018.
4. The Accidental Prime Minister
The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the life of the former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The film is based on his biography written by Sanjaya Baru and will be released next year.
Kangana Ranaut’s most ambitious project, Manikarnika, is a film based on the life story of Rani Laxmi Bai. Kangana will be seen in the lead role and the film will probably be released next year.
Directed by Subhash Kapoor, Mogul is the story of T-series founder Gulshan Kumar. The film will showcase Akshay Kumar as Gulshan Kumar where he will depict the journey of the music genius from no one to an unforgettable name, even after his sad demise. It will also be a 2018 release.
Boman Irani will be seen as the Nobel Prize Winner, Kailash Satyarthi, in Jhalki. The film is about the social evil of child labour and Kailash Satyarthi’s efforts to remove it from its roots.
There are other interesting biopics coming up which have not been titled yet. These include the biopics of Rakesh Sharma (Astronaut), Anand Kumar (Mathematician), PV Sindhu (Badminton player), Saina Nehwal (Badminton layer) and Kalpana Chawla (Astronaut) played by Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, respectively. The shooting of all these promising movies have started with their release to be scheduled anytime in 2018.
While the movies seem gripping, it will be interesting to see if bollywood can live upto the expectations of the people or will lose audiences in the rush to make money from biographies. Whatever be the case, 2017 and 2018 appear to be the years of biopics in Indian cinema.
