Having witnessed violence in several parts of West Bengal recently during polls, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation on Monday called on the Election Commission in New Delhi, seeking re-polling in some areas particularly in the State.
Interacting with reporters following the meeting, senior party leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal accused TMC chief Mamata Banerjee of threatening BJP candidates and workers. He said the party has urged
the Commission to take cognisance of the matter.
He said there was a possibility of violence in West Bengal during and after counting of votes and central forces should be there till Model Code of Conduct is in force.
The BJP also appealed to the poll panel to ensure the sanctity of the counting process in Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
