The CBI team will attend the hearing of loan default case against businessman Nirav Modi in London court on Friday (March 29).
The court rejected Modi’s plea for seeking bail by saying there was substantial ground to believe that the businessman may not surrender.
The businessman also had offered 5 lakh pounds for granting bail, which also has been rejected. The fugitive diamond merchant is wanted for his alleged involvement in Rs.13,000 crore Punjab National Bank loan default case.
His counsel had told the court that he has provided documents to the police including travel documents. His lawyer also showed employment pass, Hongkong ID card, others bank cards to bring home his point. Nirav Modi was arrested by Scotland Yard in London last week in the connection with the case.
A day after the arrest, he was sent to jail by a London Court till March 29. A non-bailable warrant (NBW) has also been issued against Ami Modi, wife of Nirav, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Enforcement Directorate sources had said earlier.
