Deepika Padukone recently announced her association with husband Ranveer Singh starrer 83. Kabir Khan’s ambitious project will star Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone as Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia which will showcase the story of India’s first world cup victory back in 1983. Besides act, Deepika also co-producing the film. While many of her fans are excited to know why the actress picked the role of Romi, Deepika Padukone opens up on it.
Deepika stated that she can connect somewhere with Romi Dev’s role in Kapil Dev’s life. She mentioned that in a sports person’s life, his family needs to sacrifice a lot and she could connect to it, because she had seen such things in her home also.
The ‘Padmaavat’ actor said, “Romi was instrumental in Kapil Dev’s success, especially when he was the captain. She was part of the support system and I feel connected to that. I always feel that in an athlete’s life the wife and family sacrifice a lot of their own dreams to support the vision of the athlete, the goals that they set and they end up sacrificing their own career. I have seen it in my own family. My mother had been supportive to my father in his career. I think to see the human side, to see what an important role family play in success of athlete I took up this role.”
