Having joined director Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ team earlier, Deepika Padukone now has revealed the contract amount for 83. According to reports, Deepika will be paid Rs 14 crore for playing the the role of Romi Bhatia, wife of cricketing legend Kapil Dev.
This is lot more than what she has earned for the central role in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial 2018 film ‘Padmaavat’, that went on to earn Rs 600 crore worldwide, becoming the biggest outing of her career.
Deepika has recently joined Ranveer on the sets of Kabir Khan’s 83 in Glasgow, England. Well, it is no more secret that the real-life celeb couple is playing a reel-life couple in the film. Deepika will essay the role of Romi Bhatia, while Ranveer will be seen playing legendary cricketer Kapil Dev on big screen.
Ranveer, who is excited to work with wife Deepika in his upcoming sports drama, took to social media to share a picture with Deepika from the sets of 83. Calling Kabir Khan a genius for casting them together, Ranveer Singh wrote, “Who better to play my wifey than my wifey?”
While the duo has worked together in a handful of films, it is for the first time that the couple is working with director Kabir. 83 will chronicle India’s win under Kapil Dev’s captainship, when the ‘men in blue’ defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983.
Talking about collaborating with husband Ranveer for the fourth time after last years’ ‘Padmavaat’, Padukone said, “The personal equation doesn’t spill over into the workspace. I can’t think of anyone else who could do justice to the role of Kapil Dev, but if there was someone else playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would still do my part. This isn’t coming from a personal equation, but from my passion and enthusiasm for the film.”
This is the first time after their marriage that Deepika will be seen with husband Ranveer on the big screen. The much anticipated film 83 will hit the screens on April 10, 2020.
