The Election Commission has directed three websites to take down the trailer of ‘Baghini-Bengal Tigress’, which is said to be a biopic on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
According to reports, after the chief electoral officer of West Bengal submitted a report on the biopic, the Election Commission has initiated steps to ensure that the trailers are brought down which had been released on some websites.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party appealed to poll panel seeking a ban on the release of the movie till the election process is over. Though the makers have claimed that it is slated for release on 3 May, an EC official stated so far the Central Board for Film Certification has not issued it a certification.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress supremo denied any links with ‘Baghini’ and warned people not to insist her to file a defamation suit. In fact, the West Bengal CM took a jibe to Modi and said ‘she is not Modi and she doesn’t need any biopic.’
“I am not Modi” she wrote in her social media post.
“What is all this nonsense being spread! I have nothing at all to do with any biopic,” tweeted Mamata Banerjee.
Further, warning people, she wrote in her post, “Please do not compel me to file for defamation by spreading lies.”
What is all this nonsense being spread! I have nothing at all to do with any biopic. If some young people have collected stories & expressed themselves, that’s up to them. Not related to us. I am not Narendra Modi.
Please do not compel me to file for defamation by spreading lies
