The Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy is undertaking a massive rescue and rehabilitation operation in the the coastal Odisha in the backdrop of Cyclone Fani.
Indian Navy ships Ranvijay, Kadmatt and Airavat, with three helicopters, are presently operating off Puri and coordinating aerial survey and immediate response through their integral helicopters.
The Indian Air Force, IAF, has deputed three C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to Bhubaneshwar for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief. The aircraft will carry about 45 tonnes of relief material, including emergency equipment and medicines, for the cyclone-hit locations.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha reviewed rescue and relief measures in the cyclone affected areas of Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday and reported directed the officers of Central Ministries and Agencies to remain in close touch with Odisha government. He has asked them to provide all required assistance expeditiously.
