While Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the Maldives on Sunday stressed upon need to tackle terrorism by terming it a big threat to humanity, his External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at Thimpu.
In a tweet, Jaishankar said, special friendship between India and Bhutan has always benefited from the enlightened guidance of the head of state of the Himalayan nation.
Earlier, Jaishankar met Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lotay Tshering and discussed important elements of the bilateral ties.
He also held talks with his Bhutanese counterpart Tandi Dorji and discussed issues of mutual interest with emphasis on development partnership and hydropower.
He arrived in Bhutan’s capital Thimpu on Saturday during his first overseas trip after assuming charge of the ministry.
