After wooing the audience with his versatile acting over the years, actor R Madhavan is all set to impress his fans with his performance in the film ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. But wait, here goes one more good news for his fans— the ace actor is now all set to make his debut as a director. And the film ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ will mark Madhavan’s directorial debut.
The film has kicked off last week. This would be a biopic based on one of the legendary ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) scientists Nambi Narayanan and the director Madhavan himself essaying the titular role. The actor has admitted that getting the right look was a ‘painful long’ process for him, as he has undergone a massive transformation for his role.
The 48-years-old actor had to look like 75-years-old scientist. He has recently took to his social media and shared a collage of his final transformation for the film with the caption, “After 14 hours on the chair.. Who is who is WHO? #rocketryfilm.”
According to reports, his prep started sitting in a chair for around 14 hours for two days. The actor admitted that it was easy to start with but as the process went long, he realized just how tough it is to get even the right hair. ‘But finally the effort worth it’ said the actor.
Madhavan’s look for the film has been created by Rohan Jagtap and Farah Tarapore under the guidance of Vikram Gaikwad.
Talking about his role from the film, Madhavan revealed that getting under the skin of the character was tough enough for him, because he plays a 75-years-old in his debut directorial venture. Nambi Narayanan is a good-looking man and it took him around two and a-half years to imbibe the scientist’s charm and charisma. He also learnt how to walk like him.
“This one is probably one of the toughest looks and characters I have had pull off”, said Madhavan.
Madhavan was earlier supposed to co-direct the film with Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. But recently, the veteran filmmaker has withdrawn himself from the project. The film has been with the team for a three-and-a-half years and the prep took longer than they imagined, said Madhavan.
Talking about his directorial venture, the actor said, “I know the story that needs to be told but I am nervous and actually trembling. At the same time, I am feeling good about it and will go with the flow. I hope it turns out the way I had imagined it when I had written the scripts” he added.
Nambi Narayanan was a senior official at ISRO and charged with espionage in 1994. CBI dismissed the charges against him in 1996 and in 1998 the apex court of India declared him not guilty.
‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam. The film will be shot extensively in India, US, Scotland, France and Russia.
