Miffed over Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s absence from a meeting of the Election Commission’s full Bench, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora has sought an explanation from the West Bengal government.
On Thursday, the full Bench had met representatives of civil society organisations to take their views and suggestions to make the 2019 Lok Sabha elections more inclusive, ethical, accessible and participative.
Meanwhile, in the wake of a raging debate over the use of electronic voting machines in elections, the CEC reiterated there was no consideration of returning to the ballot paper.
“We are not going back to ballot paper,” the chief election commissioner (CEC) told reporters.
The CEC was interacting with the media persons after meeting with representatives of political parties and officials.
