Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Veerappa Moily trusts the coalition between Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) was a big mistake in Karnataka.
Had the grand old party fought the general election lonely, Congress could have won at least 15-16. I trust the coalition was a mistake Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka, claimed Moily.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday evening at Chikkaballapur the veteran Congress leaders claimed, “I trust the coalition was a mistake. Our people (Congress) also opposed me that is very clear.” He was defeated by BJP’s BN Bache Gowda in Chikkaballapur by 1,82,110 votes. He was asked the reason of opposing from his party, Moily alleged that it may be because of power or money.
Congress and JD(S) that had faced the polls in alliance managed to win one seat each, while BJP won 25 seats.The saffron party supported independent candidate SumalathaAmbareesh won in Mandya.

He said that he was not sure about contesting an election again, saying he does not have that desire, but will continue to have the love and trust with the people here in Chikkaballapur. Indicating that ineffectiveness of the state government, led by JDS-Congress coalition government, also led to the disastrous result in the LS polls.
