Nimrat Kaur, the ‘Airlift’ actress, who grabbed eyeballs in the fourth season of an award-winning American drama show, is now gearing up for the eighth installment of the same. It’s been five years that the actress was last seen in season 4 of ‘Homeland’ as Tasneem Qureshi, who’s a member of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
And now, if the reports are to be believed, Nimrat is returning to the Emmy-winning American TV series for its final and eighth season, which is expected to airs in June.
The actress is all set to fly down to Casablanca this weekend, as the project will be going floor at that time. And, Nimrat is naturally elated!
Talking about the latest development, Nimrat revealed that the project came as a complete surprise because the first time, when she was approached, she had been told by makers that her part was just for that one season as every season has a different story and set in a different continent too.
“This one is a new story set in Pakistan and Afghanistan where America’s longest war, still unresolved, continues. Tasneem is now a senior member of the ISI and from what I have been told. I will still be the ‘face of Pakistan’ in the series. She has moved up in authority and is a figure of great importance. There will be pivotal decisions taken by her,” said Nimrat who got the offer last year in September when she was in Los Angeles.
Nimrat will be taking off this weekend to Monaco to start filming in Casablanca. We have learnt from a source that the actress is looking forward to the second season of an Indian series too and in between she is hoping to dive into a new Bollywood project. The actress has confirmed the news, saying, “I will be flying back and forth over the next few months.”
The actress also revealed that the makers wanted her character ‘Tasneem’ back because it did well for them. And it seems she is keen on this oversea project, as she said, “The opportunity to play it again and to jump into that universe is exciting. It is for the first time that I am repeating what I played onscreen.”
Talking about her past working experience with ‘Homeland’ makers, she asserted that it was little challenging when she got there, as it was her first abroad project. So the entire process was totally new to her. Moreover, Tasneem is out and out grey character. So, Nimrat had to train herself hard to being comfortable with her part.
Though, the actress had limited screen time in the fourth season, it garnered universal acclaim and opened new avenues for her.
“People come to me at airports and say they don’t like me. It is rewarding to see that people hate this character. It makes me feel ‘job well done’,” said the 36-year-old actress.
The interesting and thrilling part is that Nimrat is returning for the last season knowing that the eyes of the world will be on her. “Homeland fans and may be even those who dropped off, will be back because it’s the finale season and they will either love the series or trash it,” concluded the spy-thriller series ‘Homeland’ actress Nimrat without divulging her portion much!
