In a kind gesture to respect the sentiments of the Sikh community, Pakistan Government has announced that no construction will be allowed on the land tilled by the first Sikh guru Guru Nanak Dev during his life at Kartarpur.
The decision to safeguard the land came considering a letter written by Navjot Singh Sidhu in January 2019 to the Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
In the letter, Sidhu conveyed that “the area in question should not be used for any construction activity having commercial purposes”. Sidhu added that this was a collective desire of the Sikh community.
Pakistan government has decided not to raise any construction to retain the sanctity of the 30 acre land around historical Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara on which the first Sikh, Guru Nanak Dev did agriculture during the last 18 years of his life spent at Kartarpur.
