After making such a noise with his latest movie ‘Simmba’, once again Ranveer Singh is all set to prove himself as a versatile actor with Zoya Akhtar’s directorial venture ‘Gully Boy’. This is for the first time Ranveer will be seen sharing screen space with the Bhatt-girl, Alia.
Both of the B-Town actors chose a wonderful way to present the New Year gift to their fans on the very first day of 2019.
While the cine-goers are waiting to watch Ranveer and Alia together for the first time on silver screen, the makers and the actor duo have teased their fans with the posters of the film. On Wednesday, both of the actor duo took to their social media site respectively and shared a few posters of their upcoming film ‘Gully Boy’.
In one of the posters Ranveer and Alia can be seen seated next to each other while sharing the same earphone and looking in opposite direction. Both of them are looking quite determined in the new poster. Ranveer and Alia can be seen in their no-glam avatar.
Ranveer will essay the role of a street rapper in Zoya’s musical drama ‘Gully Boy’. He will be seen standing in a street, wearing the same blue hoodie which we saw in the first few photos from the sets of the film which got viral earlier. The lyrics inscribed on the poster with Ranveer’s photo, probably written by his character from ‘Gully Boy’. The tagline of the movie reads, “Apna Time Aayega (Our time will come).”
Sharing the poster of his upcoming venture, ‘Gully Boy’ Ranveer gave a hint of his character in the caption, he wrote, “The voice of the streets.” After sharing the first poster, within a few minutes he shared another poster which features Alia Bhatt as the female lead of the film.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Alia shared the first poster of the movie which had Ranveer’s back facing the camera and the lyrics of the rap were written all over it. Nothing much has been revealed about Alia’s character as of now.
Besides Alia and Ranveer, the film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raj, Amruta Subhash and Vijay Verma.
‘Gully Boy’ is all set to hit the screens on February 14, 2019.
Rapper Divine born as Vivian Fernandes, who is one of the inspirations for Zoya’s this directorial venture said in an interview, “I am really looking forward that the film will take hip-hop to each and every corner, street and village in this country. I want to see more of our youth take up the mic or learn to play an instrument and produce beats and do something different in their careers. The film is inspired by the Mumbai hip-hop community and it’s amazing how far we have come in the last few years. With this film, it seems the journey has only begun,” he added.
And the interesting part is, even before its release, the film is making headlines, as it got selected as a part of the Berlinale Special program at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held between February 7 and February 17. The entire cast and crew members of the film including producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar were ecstatic with the news.
Earlier in an interview, talking about the film, Ranveer said that he would have been extremely jealous if ‘Gully Boy’ starred anyone apart from him. “I swear, if there was any other actor in this teaser and it was not me, I would have been burn to a crisp. It would be so jealous. It is Mumbai. It’s hip-hop. It’s me!” he said.
