Sanya Malhotra’s upcoming venture ‘Photograph’, helmed by director Ritesh Batra, was recently screened at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. And now the makers are all set to fly to Berlin along with the casts, as ‘Photograph’ will be showcased at the Berlin Film Festival under the ‘Berlinale Special Films’ category, which is reportedly kicks off on 7 February.
After the mind-blowing performances and back-to-back hits, like ‘Dangal’, ‘Pataakha’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’, once again Sanya has grabbed all the eyeballs! And the 26-year-old Bolly diva not just have sent back those cine-critics to home, in fact she has been listed as one of the five talents to look out for at the Berlin Film Fest. Yes, you read it right! The Hollywood reporters has enlisted Sanya’s name in the ‘top-five talents’ list. And our ‘Dangal’ girl is naturally elated!
One of Sanya’s friends has forwarded her the article, revealed the actor, adding, “It feels great to be appreciated for a film as special as Photograph. Berlin is indeed a prestigious film festival and a great platform to showcase the talent.”
Further talking about how Sanya bagged the film, she said that it was director Mukesh Chabra, who patched her on a call with Ritesh Batra, just a couple of days after her first film ‘Dangal’ released.
But since Ritesh was busy with his Hollywood ventures, this one took off only seven months after Dangal. Photograph was actually the second film that Sanya singed.
Talking about her shooting experience with Batra, Sanya asserted, “I hope the response in India is as overwhelming as that at Sundance. It was memorable working with an accomplished actor like Nawazuddin Siddiqui,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, Sanya is gearing up for her next big Bolly-venture. According to reports, she will soon start filming for Anurag Basu’s next project. Basu’s next venture is a dark comic anthology, which is scheduled to release on September 6.
The untitled venture is based on unavoidable jeopardizes of life and has four different strings of stories set in a quintessential Indian metro. The film has stellar cast includes Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Pankaj Tripathi. After ‘Dangal’, this will mark Fatima and Sanya’s second venture together.
