In the wake of recent terror attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday took initiative to remove security cover of five separatist leaders — Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Ghani Bhat, Bilal Lone, Hashim Qureshi, and Shabir Shah.
The government has informed the Ministry of Home Affairs that it has issued an order to withdraw security cover of the five and all others government facilities provided to the five separatists, which has been effected from Sunday evening onwards.
The move comes after 49 CRPF troopers were killed by Jaish-e-Mohammed militant in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14.
The statement, which was issued by the government, mentions, “All security arrangements and any vehicles provided to them will stand withdrawn by today (read Sunday) evening. No security forces pr cover should be provided, under any pretext, to them or any other separatists.”
The statement also added that if the separatists have any other facilities provided by the government that will also be withdrawn forthwith.
Umar Farooq, Hurriyat chairman claimed the decision to withdraw security as a non-issue for us.
