Six terrorists and nine others, including six children and three women, were killed during an overnight raid by security forces on a hideout of Islamic State terrorist group in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province.
Two terrorists were killed in the gunfire when security forces raided a safe house of terrorists based on intelligence tipoff, said Defence spokesman Brigadier Sumith Attapattu.
Another four terrorists died when they exploded a house where they were hiding. Six children and three women were also killed in the explosion.
Forces earlier recovered explosives, ISIS flags and backdrop, suicide kits and military uniforms from another safe house in nearby Samanthurai area on Friday evening. They are conducting search operations all around the country.
