Actress Sonam Kapoor has bagged People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s Person of the Year for 2018. Not many may know she is vegan!
The actor has been feted as she sings in praise of vegan eating. She is also known for keeping animal skins out of her handbag line for her fashion brand Rheson, apart from taking other actions for the welfare of animals.
The director of PETA India Associate, Sachin Bangera said in a statement, “Whether she is enjoying vibrant vegan meals or rallying her fans to do their part to stop animal suffering, Sonam Kapoor never hesitates to help animals anyway she can.”
“We encourage everyone to take a page out of her book and live with compassion and respect for all begins,” he added.
In 2016, Sonam was named PETA India’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity and earned a Compassionate Business Award from the group of a year later for her cruelty-free handbag line.
Sonam’s past animal advocacy efforts include urging the Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change not to revoke the ban on classroom dissection for university life science and zoology students is really appreciable.
Furthermore, she even gave a call for a Maharashtra-wide ban on glass-coated Manja (kite string) that can entangle birds and kill them. And Sonam used to donate ‘kind kites’ to children to help preventing injures from manja.

Earlier, noted recipients’ list included name like Anushka Sharma, Sunny Leone, Shashi Tharoor, Kapil Sharma, Hema Malini, R Madhan and Jacqueline Fernandez earned the PETA India’s Person of the Year title.
