BJP President Amit Shah met Bollywood actor Sunny Deol in Pune for around five minutes at Pune airport lounge in the evening, sparking speculations that the Bharatiya Janata Party might field the actor from Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency.
After father Dharmendra and step-mom Hema, Sunny Deol too joining the BJP, suggests latest reports.
The meeting comes as the party is yet to announce candidates for three seats in Punjab for the ongoing General Elections. According to source, Shah met Sunny to convince him to contest from Amritsar. Though, no announcement has been made yet officially!
Regarding this, Sunny said, “I heard rumours about joining politics. I just met him and we took a photograph together, that’s it,” while the original photo was posted by Punjab BJP leader Tarun Rathi.
Yogesh Gogawale, BJP district president, Pune has already confirmed that the meeting between the two was scheduled but Gogawale refused to divulge the details of their conversation.

“Amit Shah came to Baramati as per the schedule. When he was at the airport, Sunny Deol was also there. He met Amit Shah for five minutes,” he added.
In Punjab BJP has aligned with Shiromani Akali Dal and will be fighting on three (Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur) out of 13 parliamentary seats in the state.
Sunny Deol’s father Dharmendra is currently campaigning for wife, actor and BJP lawmaker Hema Malini, in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura. The veteran actor Dharmendra had a brief stint in politics about ten years ago, when he contested the 2004 national election from Rajasthan’s Bikaner on BJP ticket and won.
