A seven-year-old Kashmir boy has become the new internet sensation after receiving the appreciation from Australian spinner Shane Warne. The boy hails from Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A video of the boy, who is identified as Ahmad, bowling at a local match, in which he can be seen cleanly bowled out an opposition guy. The video was shared by a journalist Islah Mufti on his micro blogging site Twitter earlier this year, July 23, in which Mufti mentioned the Australian spin wizard Shane Warne, which reads, “Easily ball of the century. A googly that turns a meter and a half. @ShaneWarne take a look. You have some competition.”
Warne’s response came after senior journalist Mufti’s tweet on Wednesday 5 December. “This is outstanding! Well bowled young man” tweeted back the spin legend, ending his tweet with thumps up emoji.

After the spinner god Shane Warne’s appreciation, Ahmad became a topic of discussion during Fox Cricket’s lunch break broadcast on day two of the Border-Govaskar Trophy tournament between Australia and India at Adelaide. The legendary leg-spinner was a part of the panel, along with former England international Isha Guha and former Australian batsman Michael Hussey with anchor Mark Howard, and they shared the youngster’s delivery on TV. Warne even went on to coin it as ‘The Ball of the Century’!
The broadcast clipping on Fox Cricket’s Instagram page has also garnered nearly 50,000 views.
“I love Shane Warne. He liked my googly” said Ahmad, the tiny Kashmiri cricketer after getting the news.
Saturday morning was indeed the most cherished morning for the Ali family and their son Ahmad Abbas, as they came to know of Ahmad’s video catching the eyeballs of legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne and cricket lovers around the world.
Ahmad’s father Ali said that he had never expected his son to become famous in one day and that, over a single delivery. T Bastion academy Coach Haroon Rashid Khan, where Ahmad practices stated that Ahmad has the potential to make it big.
