A major signal ahead of PM Modi’s Israel visit: India-Israel defense cooperation will strengthen, with a focus on the Iron Dome.

Ahead of  Prime Minister  Narendra Modi ‘s proposed visit to Israel, Israel’s Consul General in India , Yaniv Revach,  has indicated that Israel is working on a plan to further expand defence cooperation with India, with the sharing of advanced defence technology and   the promotion of military hardware manufacturing in India being key agenda points.

Bilateral defence cooperation reaches new heights

Revach said that relations between India and Israel are steadily deepening and there is strong trust between the leadership of the two countries. During the proposed visit,  special attention will be given to upgrading defense agreements , technology sharing, and   enhancing manufacturing capabilities under the Make in India initiative.

Partnership on advanced systems, including Iron Dome

The Consul General stated that both countries   are working to advance cooperation on advanced defense systems such as  the Iron Dome . He clarified that this cooperation will not be limited to procurement, but will prioritize technology transfer  and  joint manufacturing  , strengthening India’s defense self-reliance.

Common strategy against terrorism

According to Revach, India and Israel face similar security challenges, and  cooperation against terrorism  is a shared priority for both countries. He added that Israeli Prime Minister  Benjamin Netanyahu  also considers defense cooperation a key pillar of bilateral relations. The two countries are working on a common strategy to maintain regional stability and combat extremism.

Agenda beyond defense

The Consul General clarified that the proposed dialogue will not be limited to defense alone.  Discussions will also explore new dimensions of economic, technical, and political cooperation  . Emphasis will be placed on increasing private sector participation and   strengthening coordination in multilateral forums .

Overall, these signals ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Israel clearly indicate that the India-Israel partnership   is set to strengthen further at the strategic, technological and industrial levels in the times to come.
