A Myanmar court today sentenced ousted State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi to four years in prison. She has been found guilty of violating the COVID-19 rules related to the epidemic under the Myanmar National Disaster Act and inciting public anger against military rule. She is facing 11 charges. The court also found ousted former President Win Myint guilty and sentenced him to four years in prison.
Aung Sang, who headed the democratic government before the military toppled before a new parliament meeting on February 1 this year, is currently in custody.
