The cyclone formed over South-East Bay of Bengal has intensified into a severe cyclone and has moved towards North Andhra Pradesh- Orissa coasts. Alert has been issued in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal. These states are likely to receive heavy rainfall from tomorrow due to the impact of the cyclone.
The Meteorological Department said that the cyclone may intensify further. But it will not hit the Odisha or Andhra Pradesh coasts. The Odisha government said that despite this information, there would be no reduction in vigil in the state.
Cyclone Asani is unlikely to hit the Kolkata coast in West Bengal, but due to its impact, there will be heavy rain. Leaves of all employees of Kolkata Municipal Corporation have been canceled in preparation to deal with any emergency. The municipal administration has made arrangements for all the necessary equipment to deal with any situation. The control room will remain active during the passage of Asani.
In view of the forecast of rain in different parts of Telangana, a yellow alert has been issued. Light to moderate rain is expected at many places in the state for the next three days.
