Allahabad High Court did not allow the use of loudspeakers in Azan

The court has said that giving azaan through loudspeaker is not a fundamental right. The law has already been passed in this regard. A division bench of Justice Vivek Kumar Birla and Justice Vikas Wednesday said this while hearing the petition filed by Irfan.

His arguments were rejected by the Allahabad High Court. The court said that now the law has been passed that the use of loudspeakers from the mosque is not a fundamental right. As such the petition is clearly wrong and hence it is dismissed.

Recently in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that loudspeakers at religious places should not be heard outside the premises. Yogi Adityanath also said that loudspeakers can be used at religious places with permission, but the sound should not come out of the premises. He further said that no new permits will be issued for loudspeakers. Following Yogi Adityanath’s statement, the loudspeaker volume at 17,000 religious places in the state was reduced to the standards set for all religious places including temples and mosques in the state.
