America once again considered Arunachal Pradesh as a part of India. In this regard, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department, Vedant Patel has said that America recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as Indian territory. They also said that they strongly oppose any attempt to transgress, either through military or civilian intrusion, across the Line of Actual Control
Let us tell you, this statement of the US official comes days after the Chinese Army reiterated its claim on the northeastern state after Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Arunachal Pradesh and started development projects. On March 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Arunachal Pradesh. During that time, along with starting many projects, he also inaugurated the Sela Tunnel which has been built at an altitude of 13 thousand feet.
It is the longest double lane tunnel in the world. Constructed at a total cost of Rs 825 crore, this tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang across the Sela Pass on the Balipara – Charidwar – Tawang Road, besides strengthening the preparedness of the armed forces and enhancing the socio-economic development of the border area.
Would like to mention that this is not the first time that America has approved India’s rights over Arunachal Pradesh. In June last year, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited America, a few weeks later, a committee of the US Congress passed a resolution in this regard, in which Arunachal Pradesh was described as an “integral part of India”.
