Assembly elections will be held in Himachal Pradesh in a single phase on November 12

In Himachal Pradesh, on the 12th of next month, voting will be conducted for the assembly elections in a single phase. Counting of votes will take place on December 8. The notification for the 68-member state assembly will be issued on the 17th of this month and the last date for filing nominations will be October 25.

With the announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Election Code has come into force in the state. Briefing the media in New Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there are more than 55 lakh eligible voters in Himachal Pradesh. , Permission applications for rallies and meetings can also be made online through the Commission’s portal.

The Chief Election Commissioner has appealed to the voters to understand the importance of their franchise and go to cast maximum number of votes. Rajiv Kumar said that the Commission is committed to conduct free, fair and inducement free voting in Himachal Pradesh. He said that the commission would not tolerate any kind of corruption in the elections and its entire machinery would monitor it. The Commission has advised the State to take appropriate measures to ensure compliance with vaccination and COVID appropriate behaviour.
