A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against TMC chief Kalyan Banerjee at the Golabari police station in Howrah hours after a video emerged on social media, where TMC chief Kalyan Banerjee was seen making derogatory remarks about Goddess Sita and Ram Bhakts.
According to sources, the FIR was filed by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha chief Ashish Jaiswal against Kalyan Banerjee. He has said that his remarks have harmed the Bengali community. Jaiswal has also asked the TMC chief for an apology. A member of the Maithili community in Howrah, Abhay Kumar Jha, condemned Kalyan Banerjee’s statement and threatened to launch a protest if he did not apologize within 24 hours.
The FIR has been lodged in the Golabari police station, as per reports.
BJP leader Locket Chatterjee, though responding strongly to his unacceptable remarks, said that he had insulted Ramayana and Mahabharata’s Hindu culture and Hindu epics. She added that in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, people will give an effective answer to the party. The Trinamool Congress party (TMC) has often resorted to minority appeasement in a bid to maintain its stronghold over the Muslim vote bank. However, ahead of the elections, the party has now upped his ante with anti-Hindu propaganda.
Sita told Ram that I’m grateful that I was kidnapped by Ravana. If I had been abducted by your followers chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and brandishing saffron headgear, I would have ended up as the Hathras survivor of Uttar Pradesh,’ said the TMC chief while addressing a rally. In his politically-motivated statement, Banerjee tried to glorify the demon king Ravana while simultaneously defaming the Ram Bhakts of committing a heinous crime against Goddess Sita.
