The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has warned all television channels against telecasting disturbing footage and photographs. The Ministry today advised all television channels to exercise caution while reporting incidents of violence, especially against women, children and the elderly. The advisory has been issued by the ministry in view of several cases of wrong telecast on sensitive topics by TV channels.
The ministry said that such reporting has a negative impact on the minds of children. This violates the privacy of the person and is completely condemnable.
The Ministry has said that in most of the cases, TV channels broadcast all kinds of videos from social media without using discretion, which is a violation of the program code. The ministry has strongly asked all private television channels to put in place a mechanism for reporting incidents of crime, accidents and violence, including deaths, in line with the program code.
