Coast Guard takes major action against intrusion into Indian waters, arrests 3 Bangladeshi boats and 19 fishermen

The Indian Coast Guard, acting under its maritime jurisdiction, has seized three Bangladeshi boats and arrested 19 fishermen on board for illegally fishing in Indian waters.

The action was taken on Saturday and Sunday after these boats were found violating the Indian Maritime Zones Act in the northern part of the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Coast Guard, none of the crew members apprehended had valid fishing permits in Indian waters. The operation, which violated regulations, is being considered a major success.

The Coast Guard has handed over the three boats and the 19 arrested persons to the Marine Police for further legal proceedings.

This action in the maritime security setup once again proves that the Indian Coast Guard is working on the principle of zero tolerance towards any illegal activity.
