Congress leader Sunil Jakhar joins BJP, Nadda got membership

Former Punjab Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was inducted into the party in the presence of the party’s national president Jagat Prakash Nadda. Welcoming him, Nadda said that Jakhar is a seasoned politician and he will play an important role in strengthening the party.

While announcing his decision to quit the Congress, he attacked some leaders “sitting in Delhi”, especially Ambika Soni, and said that unless the Congress gets freedom from such leaders, it cannot build its mass base in Punjab.

Sunil Jakhar, a three-time member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, is the son of senior Congress leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker late Balram Jakhar. Balram Jakhar has also been the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.
