Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s statement regarding surgical strike has created a controversy between Congress and BJP. Tharoor had said in his speech in Panama that in 2016, during the Modi government, India had carried out surgical strikes for the first time across the Line of Control.
Reacting to this, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Congress party has started a series of prejudices and propaganda against the achievements of PM Modi. He further said, “The Congress party has never been serious about the security of the country.” Naqvi clarified that while the Indian Army has destroyed terrorist hideouts, the Congress party is raising questions on it.
On this issue, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that Shashi Tharoor has given clarification on social media platform X that he did not say anything like this, so this controversy should end here.
Kheda also responded to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s X post. He mentioned India’s influence internationally during the Congress regime, citing the example of Reagan seeking Rajiv Gandhi’s help on the Afghanistan issue. Kheda underlined the difference in international relations between the current and previous governments and said that currently Donald Trump is threatening India with trade, whereas earlier India had more respect internationally.
