Court extends Aftab’s police custody for five more days, narco test also approved

A Delhi court on Thursday allowed the city police to interrogate Mehrauli murder accused Aftab Amin Poonawalla for five more days. The court also allowed his ‘Narco Test’ to be conducted to crack the case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Aviral Shukla passed the order while accepting the police’s plea in the matter. According to the police, 28-year-old Poonawalla allegedly strangulated his ‘live-in partner’ Shraddha Walkar (27) to death on the evening of May 18 and cut her body into 35 pieces, which he dumped in South Delhi. K kept it in a 300 liter fridge at his residence in Mehrauli for about three weeks and kept throwing it in different parts for several days.

An officer said, “He used to go to the forest at around 2 am and return after a few hours. He did this for about 20 days.” Police said it was Poonawalla’s “cleverness” that he answers in English despite knowing Hindi. He was also active on Shraddha’s social media accounts, but eventually his luck ran out and the police reached out to him.
