Covid-19 cases dispersed over the last week to many districts of the province. In the past two weeks active cases in 28 out of 36 Maharashtra districts, up from 21 roughly 10 days earlier, saw a rise.
Health department data reveals that the new hotspots in Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal, and Nagpur continue to rise with active accidents, but there are large numbers in Marathwada districts like Latur, Hingoli, Parbhani and Nanded. Nagpur district (9,141) has the second highest active cases in the Pune region with Vidarbha as the epicentre of the February spike (12,577).
Furthermore, data indicate that between 15 and 21 February Amravati recorded the highest weekly growth rate in cases (19.4 percent ). The weekly growth rate of Akola was 10.5% and the growth rate of Buldhana was 6.1%. These are all Vidarbha districts. However, even though Akola registered a positive rating of 30.8 per cent, Amravati continues to have a weekly positive rate of 41.5 per cent.
