Delhi government banned firecrackers till January 1

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has said that the production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers will be banned in the national capital till January 1 next year. The restriction will also apply to online sales or distribution. Gopal Rai said that this decision has been taken to stop pollution.

Last year also, the Delhi government had imposed a complete ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in the national capital from September 28 to January 1, 2022. The city government had also started a campaign ‘Jalao firecrackers nahi diye’ to create awareness against pollution caused by burning of crackers.

Action was taken against those using firecrackers under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Explosives Act.
