The crackdown against foreign nationals living illegally in the capital Delhi has been intensified. The Bangladeshi cell of the South-East District Police recently arrested 28 Bangladeshi nationals who were living in various areas of Delhi without any valid documents. The campaign was launched amid growing concerns about illegal migration, with special emphasis on identifying and deporting such people.
According to police, all of the arrested migrants were living in slums, labor camps, and unauthorized colonies. Police used information from local informants and field intelligence during the operation. The investigation also revealed that these individuals had entered India illegally through the Khulna border in West Bengal. None of them possessed valid travel or identification documents.
The operation was led by SI Kawaljit and ASI Brijesh. They, along with Head Constables Vedprakash, Arun, Mohit, Rajesh, and Jyoti Bansal, conducted on-the-ground investigations and raids. Through local inquiries, surveillance, and a network of informants, the team identified and detained illegal squatters.
Following their arrest, all 28 individuals were placed in a temporary detention center, where deportation proceedings have begun. Preliminary investigations revealed that these migrants were engaged in unskilled labor, such as ragpicking, farm labor, and small informal businesses.
Police officials stated that illegal immigration poses a serious threat to the country’s security and social infrastructure. Therefore, it is essential to monitor such elements and take timely action. Police also stated that a total of 235 illegal Bangladeshi nationals have been identified and deported in the South-East district so far.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to report suspicious activities or unknown individuals to the police to further strengthen security and law and order in the capital. Police also clarified that such operations will continue to fully control illegal immigration and related activities.
