Delhi’s mohalla clinics will be upgraded, will become ‘urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir’

After Rekha Government took over the reins of Delhi, the government has taken several important decisions with the aim of speeding up administrative processes. Under this, the Delhi government has decided to upgrade the existing 553 Mohalla Clinics into ‘Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir’ (U-AAM). In the interest of the people of Delhi, the BJP government has made a special provision to provide 10 gas cylinders annually at the rate of Rs 500 per cylinder and two free gas cylinders on the occasion of Holi and Diwali.

On 17 February 2025, a meeting was held with the District Magistrates of all 11 districts of Delhi, under the chairmanship of GNCTD Health and Family Welfare Secretary and State Health Society. In this meeting, discussions were held regarding the priorities and implementation of Ayushman Bharat schemes.

In the meeting, emphasis was laid on the coordinated implementation of PM-JAY, HWC/Ayushman Arogya Mandir, PM-BHIM, ABDM, and PMBJP schemes. Particularly, the process of enrolling beneficiaries within 30 days of approval by the Cabinet under PM-JAY was discussed.

Along with this, a proposal was also submitted to establish 1,139 urban AAMs under PM-BHIM, in which 553 existing Mohalla clinics will be upgraded to U-AAMs.

It was proposed to increase the number of ASHAs to ensure universal coverage of health schemes and the need for monitoring campaigns like the 100-day TB campaign and NCD screening was emphasized.
