Diesel-powered vehicles banned in Delhi-NCR

The Air Quality Management Commission for the National Capital Region and adjoining areas has banned diesel four wheeler light motor vehicles in Delhi-NCR in view of the poor ambient air quality condition.

However, vehicles engaged in BS-VI and essential and emergency services have been exempted from this restriction. The entry of trucks carrying essential commodities, except electric and CNG, has also been banned.

The Commission issued the order after an emergency meeting was held to consider the deteriorating air quality situation in the National Capital Region. The commission has also ordered a ban on construction works in government projects, including construction of highways, flyovers, power transmission and pipelines in Delhi-NCR. The Air Quality Committee of the government has also ordered closure of industries that do not use clean fuel in NCR.
