Eight cheetahs brought from Prime Minister Namibia will be kept in Kuno National Park

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release cheetahs in their natural habitat at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh tomorrow under the Cheetah Project. This is the world’s first project for inter-continental migration of large carnivorous wild animals.

These cheetahs have been brought from Namibia under a memorandum of understanding. The project is part of Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to revive the cheetah habitat and diversify India’s wildlife. Cheetahs were declared extinct in India in 1952.

The Prime Minister will also attend a self-help group conference at Karahal in Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh. Thousands of self-help groups of women will participate in the conference under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
