In Karnal district, today farmers from Punjab, Haryana and other neighboring states gathered in large numbers at Anaj Mandi and protested amid tight security.
The Karnal administration held three rounds of talks with farmer leaders at the Mini Secretariat this evening to avoid clashes between the farmers and the police. The farmers are demanding action against the SDM who ordered the use of force on the mob in Karnal on August 28.
The farmers are demanding compensation of Rs 25 lakh and a government job to the kin of Sushil Kajal, who died after being injured in the lathi charge. There is also a demand for compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the injured farmers.
