The three ODI series between India and Sri Lanka begins today. Its first match will be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati from 1.30 am today. Skipper Rohit Sharma, who was out of India’s last two bilateral series, will once again lead the team with this match.
At the same time, senior Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not return for the ODI series with Sri Lanka. His return to the field has been delayed due to a lower back injury. As the senior pacer failed to fully recover from a stress fracture in his pelvis, he was on Monday ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Bumrah is understood to have been ruled out of the series after complaining of ‘stiffness in the lower back’ during the last two net sessions at the National Cricket Academy before leaving for Guwahati for the opening ODI.
