After Ghulam Nabi Azad’s resignation from the Congress yesterday, five senior Congress leaders and former MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir have resigned from the party expressing their allegiance to him. In the resignation letter, Azad accused Rahul Gandhi of sabotaging the party’s advisory system.
Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Amin Bhatt, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, Chaudhry Akram Mohammad and Salman Nizami resigned from the primary membership of the party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Azad accused the leadership of fraud in the party in the name of ‘fake’ internal elections. He said that the ‘remote control model’ has ruined the institutional integrity of the Congress, he also alleged that all decisions are being taken either by Rahul Gandhi or even by security guards and personal assistants.
Azad said that all senior and experienced leaders were sidelined and the party was run by a new troupe of inexperienced sycophants. Azad’s name has also been included in the big leaders who left the Congress.
