Judge Durgesh of the court sentenced Mukhtar Ansari and his aide Bhim Singh to 10-10 years imprisonment in the murder of Awadhesh Rai, brother of former MLA Ajay Rai, on August 3, 1991. Ansari is currently lodged in Banda jail in various cases including murder, extortion recovery.
After the punishment, Bhim Singh has been taken into custody by the police, while Mukhtar Ansari remained present in ED custody through video conferencing.
